ELECTION RESULTS

The votes are in! A record 267 people voted with 66 voting on Saturday morning and 201 voting by absentee ballot. New members to the board are Anita Wright from Area #4 and Herb Benshoof from Area #1. Larry Kohler will serve as Chairperson, Fritz Gantner will serve as Vice Chairperson, and Quinn Heatherington will serve as Secretary. Commission appointments are: Building-Jarret, Roads-Gantner, Water-Benshoof, Security-Heatherington, Ecology-Wright, Sold Waste-Moebs.

MAILBOX SENTINEL

This fellow just stands and watches as I get out of the car to get the morning paper out of the mailbox on some mornings. He has a "harem" down in the ravines near my house.

NEW CONSTRUCTION

In today's market and our area, new construction is at a minimum. One exception is this beautiful home going up on lot WS 531, Bunting Drive, on the north end of Sweetwater Lake.

TRAPPERS AT WORK

I ran into Randy Smith trapping today on Cordry Lake. Randy and his uncle have been trapping both lakes this fall and winter taking mostly muskrat and some beaver. The warm weather and no ice have allowed the trappers to continue working into the winter. Randy told me that the going price for a muskrat pelt is $7. Many times they clean and freeze the pelts and wait for the market/auction to pay a better fee.

Happy New Year to all. I went over for the annual Polar Bear Water Ski event sponsored by the Misouri Disabled Water Ski Association held underneath the Arch on the Mississippi River. Looking forward to a great 2012!
