DEER BUFFET
With the snow and recent cold weather, the hungry deer can be quite imaginative! I looked down at my shoreline and saw 6 deer standing on the ice eating the ivy and ground cover from my bank. They later walked across the lake on the ice to my neighbor to see what they had to offer!

IT'S COLD
You know it's been cold when a fast flowing river freezes over! Pictured is the Blue River Dam at Edinburgh.
RED HEADED DUCKS
Just when you think you've seen it all.....something new comes along. My neighbor has an agitator to keep his dock free of ice which creates an open hole. I noticed today that a flock of red headed ducks have taken up residence in the open hole. I've also notice some birds around that shouldn't here. I'm thinking the mild winter in December and January influenced them to start migration. Big Surprise...late February has delivered severe winter weather.

BASKETBALL COURTS
A proposal to install basketball courts at the designated park area near the fire station was presented to the Ecology Commission last week. The old basketball courts that were located in the woods near the cell phone tower fell into dis-repair and are now used for materials supply area. The courts were used frequently but being so far out of sight, in-appropriate activities sometimes occurred. The park master plan places the new courts near the walking track out in the open for more visibility. The Ecology Commission voted to present the proposal to the CSCD at their next February meeting.

BROWN COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The new Brown County Historical Society Building in Nashville is completed and should be ready for an official grand opening celebration slated for April 26th, 2015. The building is beautiful! It is located at 90 East Gould Street just across the street from the Historical Society's log buildings and log jail in downtown Nashville.
NEW CONSTRUCTION
There has been lots of new construction around the lakes this winter. Numerous new docks and several new houses are nearing completion. This house on Hummingbird Drive being built by GP Construction should be ready for summer.
