MARTINS RETURN
A significant sign that summer is not too far away is the arrival of the Martins. Several Martins were dive-bombing this Martin house located near the Sweetwater gas pump dock.
LOONS ON THE LAKE
I've been out on the lake several times in the past week and noticed Loons on the lake. Got a picture of Mr. Loon (or Mrs.) in the north end of Sweetwater Lake today.

NATURE TRAILS
The Nature Trails across from Sweetwater Beach are open for your enjoyment. The CSCD crew has cut fallen trees in needed places so that all the trails are hikable. Josh Hawley and his crew have also marked a preliminary trail that would connect Sweetwater and Cordry by trails. This new trail is at the end of trail number 5. It is marked with red flags and has not been cleared or made hikable for the average hiker! I personally did hike it and it was very challenging. (I accused Josh of being a mountain goat!)As time and funds permit, this will be a great addition to the nature trail system.

OOOOPSIE!
On Tuesday, March 22nd, a local resident missed the turn at Sweetwater Realty. The Toyota kept going straight at the Sweetwater Realty storage shed, went over the bank and flipped upside down coming to rest against the utility pole and the propane gas tank. The driver simply fell asleep at the wheel! No injuries thank goodness. I wonder if he had to change pants?!

CHILI COOK OFF WINNERS
The CSLOA Chili Cook Off was a smashing success. It was a full house for the approximately 20 entries and 6 judges to decide who made the best chili. In the end, prizes were given for three categories. Jason Gatewood/Sweetwater Realty won the "spicy" division, Chet Taylor won the "non-traditional" category and Dave Moebs won the "traditional" award. Thanks to all the CSLOA Officers and helpers for sponsoring this event.

ECOLOGY COMMISSION
I attended the March 3rd Ecology Commission meeting and came away impressed by the businesslike manner in which the meeting was held. The focus for much of the meeting was the formation of a "mission statement" for a future 5 year plan and a coming budget deadline for 2017.
