MORE WINTER

It's about time that we have winter!   More winter weather is forecast for this evening.  Continuous rain today melted a lot of yesterday's snow but the result was excess water a sludge.  The forecast for the next 36 hours is below freezing temperatures which will influence road conditions in the morning.  It may be a skating rink!  Jerry Cleefman is pictured clearing snow and water from his driveway in preparations for the next round of fun!

WATER LEAK REPAIRS

Not much evidence of the amount of work that went on all last night at the bottom of REMC hill between Prince's Lakes and Cordry Sweetwater Lakes.  There was a leak in the main line to Cordry Sweetwater Lakes.  The conservancy crew members worked 15 hours through the night to find and accomplish a repair only to be awarded the plowing of a fresh snow the came on Saturday night.   We owe big thanks to all who worked this weekend.

BEAUTIFUL TRAILS

Fresh snow last night makes the trails beautiful for a hike today.

LAKE ICE

Finally!  The lakes started skimming over a couple of days ago.  The main bodies of both lakes have some ice and many of the coves are skimmed over.  It used to be that at this time of year the lakes would completely freeze over and we would hike all the way around the lakes.  Not so in past few years.

WINTER BEAUTY

On my return home from  a couple of weeks in Florida, I was greeted by the beautiful scenes all around the county.  In Columbus, there was nary a flake of snow but as I approached home the country side began to take on the beauty of the fresh snow.  Those people in Florida are missing out on the beauty of winter!

CSCD ELECTION RESULTS

Congratulations to Jay Nogan on his election to the board of directors for the Cordry Sweetwater Conservancy District.  77 votes were cast in this election and the results were read at the annual meeting today.  The different commissions also gave their annual report.  Of note was a presentation about the zebra muscle infestation occurring in lakes to the north of us and the possible efforts to deal with this coming threat.
