PALM SUNDAY SNOW

Left home at 5:00 PM to eat out at Columbus with friends. It was sprinkling rain. Two hours later we slipped and slid all the way up US 31 and across Camp Atterbury. (old name) Not a snow plow or sand truck anywhere. Got to the entrance of Prince's Lakes and Nineveh Road all the way into Cordry Sweetwater Lakes had been plowed and sanded as were the main roads in the conservancy. Excellent Work CSCD Road Workers! Hard to believe that a couple of us water skied on Sweetwater yesterday!

NEW NAME FOR CAMP ATTERBURY

A decade after Camp Atterbury started prepping soldiers for war, the post is shifting focus to peacetime training. Camp Atterbury will serve as a regional training center for National Guard, Reserves, Homeland Security Training, unmanned aircraft testing, and cyberdefense operations. Its name will also change to "Atterbury Muscatatuck Training Site."

CSCD MEETING DECISIONS

Several decisions were passed at the March 19th CSCD Meeting. The contract for the new office/maintenance building was let to Steelcorp for a total of $744,500. Completion date is supposed to be December 1st, 2013. The present office will probably be removed after the new building is completed. In other action, the board decided to adjust Saturday hours for the Conservancy hours. The CSCD office will be open on Saturdays until 12:00 noon during May, June, July, and August.

BASKETBALL COURTS SACRIFICED

In order to make more room for the construction of a new office/work building the CSCD is moving its stockpiles of stone, sand, and rip rap to the basketball courts at the Firehouse Park location. Future plans dictate a new court nearer to the walking track. The CSLOA and CSCD need some money for this update!

WINTER WONDERLAND

We're all ready to say farewell to winter but mother nature has a different agenda. The snow of March 4th-5th closed county schools and made roads and driving very challenging. It is a beautiful winter wonderland!
