WEIRD WEATHER

Hard to believe that there were boaters, paddle-boarders, and water skiers this past weekend as the temperatures were setting records. All night rains on Tuesday/Wednesday raised the lakes far above normal pool levels. Both Cordry and Sweetwater resemble the "Muddy Mississippi" on the north ends. Salt Creek on the way to Nashville was out of its banks. Wednesday evening brought snow flakes adding another dimension to the weird weather.

SPRING FEVER!

Spring can't be too far away! Sand Hill Cranes were flying north today and this group of Coots were paddling on Cordry Lake today. Except for a couple of coves, the warm weather in the 60's today and the wind removed the ice from the lakes.

INSURANCE REQUIRED

For the 2016-2017 boat stickers for Cordry and Sweetwater Lakes, a new rule has been adopted by the Conservancy concerning gasoline powered watercraft. All gasoline-powered watercraft must be insured against liability for personal injury or property damage. In order to register and obtain decals, a lot owner must present to the District Office proof of liability insurance including the insurance company name, policy number, and insurance agent contact information applicable to the watercraft in an amount of not less than $100,000 coverage, insuring against bodily injury or property damage, per person and per occurrence. For full wording look on the website www.cscd-in.org

CHILI COOK OFF!

I hear the CSLOA is promoting a "Chili Cook Off" scheduled for March 4th, 2016 beginning at 700 PM. Suggestions are to bring a pot of chili. (meat or meatless) CSLOA will provide plates, bowls, and silverware. Local judges will rate the different entries and award prizes to the winners along with the official title of CSLOA CHILI OFF WINNER! In addition, a "game night" will follow. I'm hoping there will be some euchre players there! Contact Betsy Serra - babserra@gmail.com or Alison Randolf - arandolf@nhj.k12.in.us

NEW CONVENIENCE STORE

This article appeared in the Daily Journal today. Looks like there will be some changes in Nineveh! A new convenience store/gas station is planned for Nineveh at the 4 way stop. With approval of Johnson County officials, construction could begin in about 2-3 months.

NEW SIGN

The new CSLOA information sign at the clubhouse was installed today. The old one was probably 40+ years old and succumbed to a wind storm back in December. Insurance helped pay for the new updated sign. Pictured is Betsy Sera of the CSLOA and sign company installers. The new sign looks great!
