GOAL NOT ATTAINED

Several friends and I try to attempt a local water ski session every month of the year. Well.....I'm afraid that there will be no such event this February in Indiana.

SHIFTING ICE

Walking at Sweetwater Beach and Dam, I noticed "ice crags" along the shore. It appears that the recent warm weather thaw around the edges allowed the main lake ice to shift shoving ice up onto bank areas.

CAMP ATTERBURY

According to the Indianapolis Business Journal, the construction project in the north portion of Camp Atterbury is the 10th Largest Indianapolis-Area Ongoing Construction Project. Three barracks to house soldiers in training and a dining facility - $54,000,000. Completion due in June 2014. This project was approved and funded prior to the more recent reduction in military funding. Our government at work!

FACEBOOK

For those of you into social media, my neighbor put me onto a facebook page targeting Cordry Sweetwater Lakes. Look up "I Love Sweetwater/ Cordry Lakes"
and enjoy the chit chat of present and past residents of the lakes.

LARRY HARDER

Friends and neighbors are saddened to hear of the passing of Larry Harder on February 19th. Larry was a member of the fire department, a former employee of the Conservancy District, and local service person for launching and retrieving pontoon and speedboats for residents. Calling will be Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the Meredith Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown followed by a service at 5:00 PM.

CELL PHONE EXPANSION

At the February 18th CSCD meeting, it was announced that Verizon intends to sublet a portion of the leased premises (cell tower) to Cingular Wireless. This means an additional $6,000 per year to the Conservancy, and better service for those who use AT&T.

PROPANE GAS PROBLEM

Propane Gas customers are being exposed to shortage situations and high prices. Seems as though each supplier company has its own policy. One company who offered "pre-buy" options to customers are honoring that pre-buy price until the pre-buy amount is used up. Then the price is $4.09 per gallon with no limit of gallons. Another company who is servicing regular customers who have had 4 fill-ups per season is offering gas at $2.89 per gallon with no fill-up limits. Bottom line....we're all paying higher prices and probably using more propane gas this winter.

TURKEY TIME

Driving back from Nashville this morning, I saw this group of turkeys. One positive aspect of snow cover is the ease to spot wildlife around the lakes.

MORE DREDGING

The Cordry Sweetwater Conservancy held a preliminary dredging meeting on February 6th at the CSLOA Clubhouse for dredging companies. The Conservancy will be advertising for bids for dredging the central areas of Sweetwater Lake in 2014.
