CSCD FIRE DEPARTMENT GARAGE SALE

The social event of the season is coming this Saturday, June 28th.  Two tents and the yards are full of treasures accumulating for the annual fundraiser event.   I've also seen guests already shopping ahead for a bargain that they intend to buy!

HIGH WATER!

Thursday April 3rd-Saturday April 5th, the county and surrounding areas received 6-7 inches of rain.  Some roads were closed due to high water....some were washed out.  State Road #46 in Columbus at the I-65 interchange was completely closed.  Cordry Lake did  not flood as bad as Sweetwater due to the construction pumps running 24-7.  Sweetwater Rose approximately 3 feet covering docks and freeing boats off of lifts that weren't tethered.  The Sweetwater Emergency Spillway was flowing for the second time in the history of the lake.  (first time was 2008)

CORDRY SPILLWAY UPDATE

Work continues on the Cordry Spillway project even in snowy weather.  Most of the work is still on the back side of the spillway.  New rip rap and huge boulders have been put in place to remedy erosion downstream.  The CSCD Board of Directors recently OK'd the added expense to replace and sleeve the water main that runs under the road at the spillway site.  A 200' sleeve will be included as part of the project.  The Road remains closed to traffic and pedestrians.

GOOD BYE BUBBA!

Quinn and Linda Heatherington recently sold their home on Halibut Drive.  They are going to re-locate outside of the lakes area and with them goes "Bubba."  Bubba is their 1950's Chris Craft that they have owned for decades and used both on Sweetwater Lake and Cordry Lake.  Bubba pulled a water skiers in the 2024 Cordry Lake Water Ski Show.  Bubba even pulled some family wakeboarders.  Sad to say that Bubba had a serious leak and needs some repairs.  Quinn indicated that Bubba may find a new home with his son in state of Oregon.
