SAM EGGERS PARK

The CSCD, at its May 18th meeting, voted to name a small triangular parcel of ground at the interesection of Hackberry and Cordry Drives; SAM EGGERS PARK. Sam has tended the area for years, planting flowers, carrying water, weeding, etc. Sam and his wife are one of several "original" owners on Cordry Lake. Sam celebrated his 90th birthday last year and can still be seen out fishing on Cordry Lake.

PARK IMPROVEMENTS

The Cordry Sweetwater Lot Owners (CSLOA) and the Cordry Sweetwater Conservancy District (CSCD) are cooperating to improve and enlarge the park area located behind the fire department building. One of the first steps is nearly complete: The old retention pond has been leveled and graded out thanks to local contractor Jerry Cleefman's generous donation of equipment and time. The leaf compost area has been graded under and a new location for leaf composting is under construction. Preliminary plans call for relocating the basketball court and adding one tennis court closer to the walking track.

CORDRY SWEETWATER BRIDGE CLUB

For many years, different residents of the area have played Bridge on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Library/Clubhouse complex. 'Bout 9:00 AM the parking lot starts filling up and the games begin and last until 2:00 PM each Wednesday. Today's group had several former members from previous years attend for a reunion. We were all glad to see Kenny Meiring, John and Libby Kauchak, Nancy Hayes, and others come back for good times/good friends.

CELL PHONE TOWER UPDATE

Latest news is that Verizon and the Conservancy are still negotiating a contract. Verizon has finished "phase one" making sure the area is free of storage tanks, underground wiring, etc. Brown County Planning and Zoning need to give their final approval along with Camp Atterbury. (The Conservancy attorney says there is no foreseeable problem) We're now looking at Thanksgiving time for completion.
