BLUE RIVIER DAM LEAK

For those of us who travel to Edinburg, we often watch/look at the Blue River Dam as we enter the town limits. A leak in the dam appeared last week and it has the town residents concerned. The landmark dam was built in 1884 to run a water-powered grain mill. The leak appears to be about 10' long and poses no dangers downstream. For the first time in a century, water is not pouring over the top of the dam.
DNR officials have recommended that the town hire an engineer to survey damage and estimate repairs.
